why i loathe the rain;

a cop-out post.

1. it takes the joy out of things like leaving the house and driving.
2. related to this, drivers who don't understand hydroplaning.
3. it makes me stay in and watch more tv than i should.
4. wet shoes/socks. and wet everything because i don't believe in umbrellas.
5. i hate umbrellas.
6. foggy glasses.
7. the unsettling feeling brought on when it rains with the sun out.
8. lighting a cigarette and keeping it lit takes more effort than it should.
9. late at night when it's pitch dark out the lightning through the window reminds me of a camera flash and makes me paranoid.
10. it makes everything so much more depressing. peggy and i had thai for dinner yesterday and the place was practically empty except for us and this other lady. we sat by the window and "my heart will go on" and other such easy listening kost 103.5 music was on. i never thought eating red curry could be so fucking depressing, but believe me it was.
11. i get sick when i play in the rain. the last incidence of this being two years ago when mike, brian, emily and i went on campus to play in the mud on a saturday night, with the theatre goers en route to royce hall bewildered by these kids sliding down janss steps on those orange and white-striped traffic barricades. afterwards we had hookah and pizza. in reverse order. the night ended at the pharamacy of the 24 hour rite-aid (my favorite westwood establishment), with me sitting on the blood-pressure machine chair vomiting in a plastic grocery bag. the security guard tried to kick us out tactfully, telling us that they were closing.

as much as i dislike the rain, it does make some things prettier.
