the week in review: living out of a suitcase

is really not that bad. i don't actually know that, but i do know that living out of a duffle bag is not that bad. but i must say that doing so makes finding matching socks significantly more challenging.

matt joined the 22 years young club last weekend. we celebrated appropriately at casablanca in venice, followed by more silliness at the guys' new apartment, zanzibar. whenever i'm on my way out to visit them and someone asks where i'm going, i now say "ZANZIBAR!" with much gusto (emphasis on the last syllable) and exotic flair. there is no other way to say it.

at the grocery i picked up the latest issue of los angeles magazine featuring "25 under $25," 25 fine dining establishments that are wallet friendly. this summer my roommates and i plan to eat at all 25 of them; as of this evening i have two down, dona rosa in pasadena and tacomiendo in good old culver city, my old stomping grounds, (where mom and dad live). i no longer need to drive to glendale for mexican food; it seems that tacomiendo and el tapatio are tied for first-place-hole-in-the-wall-mexican-food.

watched my summer of love. in many ways reminiscient of swimming pool, in that european erotic (pseudo) thriller fashion. and except with more religious/philosophical undertones. also saw me and you and everyone we know. a beautiful story about people desperately trying to connect with other people. one of those rare films that brilliantly captures the imperfections and quirks and behaviors of the human disposition that we are all too embarassed to realize and embrace.

i'm looking forward to the three-day (five day, rather) weekend; enjoy it, blogosphere. cheers!

yikes, no way! i guess they called it 25 under 25 just so the title was visually symmetrical --it should really be "25 under 10." 25 is highway robbery. so far both places i've eaten have cost me 7 each.
